Hello from London!

We've been in London over a week now, arriving last Monday evening. In that short time we've already visited some museums (the science museum is fabulous; rivals the Smithsonian in Washington), taken a bus tour of London, seen a hit play, walked for miles in central London, shopped at Harrods (most of the merchandise is a little out of our price range) gotten to know our local borough of Ealing, had visitors for dinner, and more. In fact, we've done so much we've already forgotten some of the things we've done! So this blog is not only a record for our friends of what we've been up to, but also a journal to help us remember the more significant moments of our visit as well as some of the smaller moments that add to the flavor of our time here. If I have time, I'll also cover a few of things we did while we were in Germany.

We hear that the temps in Georgetown have been very high lately. One of the pleasures of being in Germany and now in London is that the temperatures are very mild and often cool enough to need a sweater or light jacket. What an incredibly welcome change from the heat and humidity of Texas. It's also rained frequently, although usually for short periods of time and very lightly.

As soon as I figure out how to post pictures, they will follow. Meanwhile we hope all is well with everyone and look forward to reading your comments.
